Global Experience at Your Service

Nice to meet you!

My name is Anna, and I am your friendly and reliable native Finnish translator and language consultant. I translate from English and Swedish into Finnish, proofread and edit Finnish texts, and even annotate AI-made translations to improve the Finnish they produce. You may know that Finnish is a tricky language to translate into with its whopping 15 noun cases, inflected verbs, and non-gender-specific personal pronouns. It is therefore often hard to get everything right on the first go – but don’t worry! With my past career as an academic I am used to working on various types of texts until they meet their criteria in content, grammar, readability, register, understandability and more. I produce academic-quality Finnish and I always deliver what I promise – timely, professionally and in a friendly, cooperative spirit.

I have a PhD in biophysics (University of Oulu, 2014) and until 2023 I worked in the Lund Vision Group as a researcher in sensory and neurophysiology. I’ve lived and worked in Panama for a couple of years and in Australia for about a year. In the academic world I most enjoyed concentrating on lab work and getting into remote locations to do field work. I love teaching and tutoring, doing scientific illustrations, and I made a few award-winning conference posters over the years. I like to challenge myself by getting on the stage in front of various audiences and speaking my heart out about my scientific interests. You can read some of my popular science writings in my Finnish blog Silmästä silmään.

In my free time I listen to audiobooks, knit socks, ride horses and train my two rescue dogs to speak Finnish with recordable sound buttons.

Welcome to my web pages, and thank you for your interest in my services!

Anna
